my sprained ankle. that's what.

yep, you heard it here first folks. i've sprained my ankle, which means that i'm basically out of training commission for the next couple of weeks.

suckssuckssuckssucks times INFINITY. *grrrr*

but on the good side, prior to said unforeseen injury, i've been feeling good about meself. especially with my breathing techniques and everything. i'm finding that i'm able to breathe more deeply and not relying on my puffer as much anymore (though i do have to rely on it from time to time).

so that's the training front. basically, there ain't gonna be one for a bit.

but that doesn't matter. no one actually reads this blog anyway!! lol. . .

bah!!

so i haven't really been updating this that often, but i figure that all can be forgiven. *stupid school*

anyway, i'm happy to announce that things are going well on the training front. i'm starting to see some toning. that's a good thing, right? AND, get this: my watch is starting to feel more loose on my wrist.

this makes me a very happy chick. =)

part of it is now due to the fact that i'm starting to form better eating habits. now, generally, i've always been a healthy eater. it wasn't until i started university that said eating habits turned to absolute shit. that is, as opposed to bringing a healthy lunch, i'd head over to some place that offered premade crap.

now, i figure that i have to cut down on the carbs a bit, which will kind of be hard to do, seeing how i'm asian and rice is a staple food for every asian in the world (what a stereotype!!). but seriously, i'm starting to feel better, and for the most part, i'm starting to feel more energised.

all i have to do is transfer this feeling of wellness over to the everyday aspect of my life, and we'll be good to go. =)

life is getting better every day. plus, i have a cute boy to potentially hook up with.

off to bed for this little girl. good night.

damn. . .it's been a while since i last blogged in here.

probably because i'm using this SOLELY for training, which in all honesty, i haven't really been doing much of. however, this doesn't mean that i've been sitting around on my arse doing nothing. i've been pretty good about doing 'barefoot' in the AM, and i've also been doing a bit more skating.

and i have discovered a travesty. . .i've FORGOTTEN how to do crossovers!!! *grrr* how the hell did i forget, you ask? easy. when you haven't skated (and i mean REALLY skated) for a few years, you tend to forget even the simplest things.

okay, so i'm making a bigger deal out of it than is necessary. i'm just a bit rusty (no pun intended). it's just a matter of practise, and i think that i'll be fine.

school's gotten underway again, so i won't really have all that much extra time to be doing as intense a regime that i'd hoped for, but then again, you can't have everything, huh?

i've also actually been taking to yoga as of late. i remember back in bay city, when we were at the bar, the lot of us were talking about it, and i had mentioned something to the effect of looking like a pretzel. but i actually do like it a lot!! i remember back in the 2nd grade, we learned to do the lotus pose (which kind of looks like you're sitting cross-legged, upsidedown. it's weird to explain), and i was able to pick it up easily. i'm hoping to gain back some of the flexibility that i've lost from not doing gymnastics for, what. . .damn near 7 years now. though i can still pretty much more or less do most of the tumbling passes that i once did daily, i don't have the agility that i once did.

all that will change.

did i mention that i also want to get back to dancing? well, i do. i didn't realise how big a part of my life it really was, and doing 'barefoot' is helping me to find that passion that i once had for it. actually, nix that. i don't think that i ever lost it, but rather, i got so caught up in so many other things (especially during high school), that i LET myself forget what it was like to be truly passionate about something.

as for the weights that i thought i was going to be lifting aobut two weeks ago, not happening. at least not anytime soon. guess that lifting heavy boxes of books at work will suffice for weight-training for now!! lol. . .

and props to melinda for completing that race!! actually, i read some of your earlier entries, and i have to TOTALLY commend you!! you are my hero!! it's so great to hear that you're at a happier place fitness-wise in your life. i only hope that a year from now, i can say the same thing!! =)

and now, i think that it's time for bed!! (how else am i going to do 'barefoot' in the morning?!?)

gah!!

so, i really didn't do too much today. i did 'barefoot' this morning, which was great, because it called for a bit more intensity, and i really felt like i was actually 'working out'.

however, right after that, i took a shower, and fell asleep, waking up promptly at 11:37 in the AM.

i dunno. . .my sleep habits are SO bizzare as of late. i think that it's due to my. . .'ususual' method of studying for those early AM exams. but luckily, with my exams being done and over with, i don't really have to worry about that problem anymore!!

i'm just trying to ease my way back into training. i'm probably going to be lifting weight sometime next week, and doing a bit more running, because i just don't want to throw myself into too much. i know that if i try to take on too much at once, i'll end up feeling burnt out, resent training, and then want to quit all together.

and that kinda defeats the purpose of training, right?

also, i'm going to be blading a bit as well. now, i know that skating really has nothing to do with rugby or field hockey, right, but i got a new pair not too ling ago, and i had forgotten how much i love skating.

yeah, getting up to my double axle was fun. =)

so i think that i'm going to call it a night now, and get some DECENT sleep!! i eventualy went to bed at about 1:30 this AM), i hauled my ass outta bed this morning at about 4:30. partly to get in some extra studying time, and partly because 'the barefoot dancer' was on at 6, like it is every weekday.

i was kinda disappointed about today's episode though. i mean, it was nice, because it was mostly slow, free movements and everything, but the trouble was that i felt that i wasn't really doing anything. last week's workouts were more intense and tended to work the more aerobic aspects of everything, whereas today's episode (and probably the rest of the week) dealt more with extension and flexibility.

now don't get me wrong or anything, because i'm ALL for the flexibility. you don't take gymnastics and ballet for 10 years without learning a thing or two about it.

but maybe because i was frustrated with how other aspects of my life were/are being played out, i really wanted to have that more physical aspect of it.

which is why i went for a 20 min. run afterwards. well, actually, it was more of a 10 min. run, and a 10 min. walk. i'm trying to ease my way back into the running, because i haven't really ran on a regular basis since OAC, and i'm almost 21 now. that's damn near three years ago.

so that was that, and i'm probably going to go for a run later on tonight, because my exams are done and over with. now i can focus more on training. . .

at least for the next few days, until summer school starts up again!!

to help me with my quest to be a 'runner', i bought the 'the beginning runner's journal' to help document and plan out when my sessions are going to be. it's actually quite useful, so if you're thinking about starting a running program, i think that it's a worthwhile investment to make. they give you guides of how to start up, and there are sections to help you with your state of mind (ex. why do you want to start a runnning program, what do you want to get out of it. etc.).

and in canada, it's only $19. . .which means that in the u.s. it's only about $2!! =P)

but my final year, through some miracle (divine intervention, perhaps?), we made it to the district finals. not only that, we kicked some serious ass, losing only in TRIPLE overtime on penalty kicks. we got the silver medal that year.

pretty good for a second-year team, huh?

so that's how i got interested in rugby. for the past two summers, i had been playing/training off and on with the toronto lions, but because i had been working up north at a camp, i went to only a handful of practices, and even fewer games. so that was the end of that. though i'm considering winter playing this upcoming year.

but i did play intramurals this past school year, and i was on the varsity team for the university for a bit (until i had to quit due to injury and overall busy-ness).

so, with that, i am trying to get back into the swing of things, and i figure that now's a good a time as any!! especially with summer coming, fewer summer school courses (as opposed to the regular school year), and the upcoming varsity season.

and so far, it's been going well (at least for me). about two weeks ago, i purchased some new skates, so that i won't get bored with the training. it's all about mixing it up a bit now and then. so i've been doing that about 2-3 times a week, for about 45 mins. each time. there's also been the AM workouts. i found this program on the women's network (yeah, shut up. i KNOW you're laughing) called 'the barefoot dancer'. it's actually quite good for me, considering that i was a dancer for 10 years. the music's great, and it doesn't even feel like exercising. i've been doing that since last wednesday (only because it's on on weekdays).

i'm a bit sore, but i chalk that up to simply being out of things for a bit. but i'm definitely feeling it in my thighs.

so, with that, i'm going to head out to walk the dog (i know that this isn't really a form of training, but at least it's some sort of physical activity). n

we'll see what tomorrow brings me!! =)

okay. . .i'm not too sure what to make of this, because i said that i'd give this new blogger thing a try, but i'm not too sure if it'll look okay. let's see anyway. . .
